Product Features

  • 4K@60Hz over active optical fiber: The active optical (AOC) construction carries 4K@60Hz video over hybrid OM3 fiber, holding the signal across long runs where a passive copper cable cannot maintain 4K.
  • Plenum (CMP) rated for commercial spaces: The CMP-rated jacket is the highest cable fire rating, approved for air-handling and return-air plenum spaces such as above commercial drop ceilings, going beyond a standard CL3 in-wall rating.
  • Long-distance value alternative to 8K: Built for the same plenum and long runs as an 8K fiber cable but rated to 4K@60Hz, it covers commercial projector and across-room setups that do not need 8K at a lower cost.
  • Directional Source-to-Display design: One connector is marked Source and connects to the source device while the Display end connects to the projector or display; the active optics must be connected in this direction to pass signal.
  • Versatile Applications: Connects ceiling-mounted projectors, 4K displays, conference rooms, digital signage and commercial AV systems over long plenum and across-room runs from 25 to 150 ft.

Product Description

75ft 4K Plenum Fiber Optic HDMI Cable, for Projector & Commercial Runs, CMP, Black

The High Speed 4K HDMI Active Optical Cable, Plenum carries a 4K@60Hz signal over hybrid optical fiber for long runs that a passive copper cable cannot handle. Its CMP plenum-rated jacket is approved for air-handling and return-air plenum spaces, which makes it built for commercial AV installations that route cable above drop ceilings and through code-regulated spaces. As a 4K cable it covers long-distance commercial video without the cost of an 8K fiber cable, in lengths from 25 to 150 ft.

One end of the cable is a 19-pin HDMI Type A male connector marked Source, which plugs into the output of a media player, console, signage player or AV receiver. The gold-flash contacts resist corrosion, and the active optics inside the connector convert the electrical signal for transmission over the fiber, drawing power directly from the HDMI port without an external adapter.

The opposite end is a 19-pin HDMI Type A male connector marked Display, which plugs into the projector or display. Because the cable is directional, the Source and Display ends are not interchangeable, and connecting them in reverse will not pass a picture. This active optical design is what allows a clean 4K signal to travel 50, 100 or 150 ft without the signal loss that limits passive copper.

The CMP plenum rating is the key difference from a standard CL3 in-wall cable: plenum-rated cable is required in the air-handling spaces that carry return air in many commercial buildings, where a CL3 cable is not approved. It supports HDR, ARC, HDCP and CEC, and the cable is UL recognized (E468039) and RoHS compliant, with a slim 4.8 mm jacket light enough to pull through conduit.

For commercial AV, the cable reaches a ceiling-mounted projector and supports HDR for high-contrast 4K video, plus ARC so audio can return from a display to a receiver over the same run. It suits conference rooms, lecture halls, digital signage and boardrooms where a long, code-compliant 4K run is needed and 8K is not required.

This plenum active optical cable is offered in 25, 35, 50, 65, 75, 100 and 150 ft lengths for long and plenum runs. It is compatible with 4K HDMI 2.0 sources and displays. For residential in-wall runs, the CL3-rated version of this cable is the right choice; for 8K or 4K@120Hz, choose an 8K HDMI 2.1 fiber cable; for short runs under 15 ft, a copper HDMI cable is more economical.

Product Comparison: Plenum (CMP) vs CL3 In-Wall

Both versions are the same 4K HDMI 2.0 active optical fiber cable; the difference is the jacket fire rating. The plenum (CMP) version is approved for return-air plenum spaces in commercial buildings, while the CL3 version covers standard residential in-wall runs. Use the table below to match the rating your install requires.

Feature Plenum (CMP) Version (This Cable) CL3 In-Wall Version
Fire Rating Plenum (CMP), highest cable fire rating CL3, general in-wall rating
Approved Spaces Air-handling and return-air plenum spaces (above commercial ceilings) General in-wall runs (not plenum spaces)
Typical Use Commercial buildings, code-regulated plenum runs Residential in-wall and conduit runs
Code Compliance Required in return-air plenum spaces Not approved for plenum spaces
Cable Type 4K HDMI 2.0 active optical fiber (AOC) 4K HDMI 2.0 active optical fiber (AOC)
Maximum Resolution 4K@60Hz 4K@60Hz
Best For Commercial AV, conference rooms, return-air ceiling runs Home theater and residential in-wall runs

FAQ

What is the difference between a plenum (CMP) HDMI cable and a CL3 in-wall cable?

A plenum (CMP) cable carries the highest fire rating and is required in air-handling and return-air plenum spaces, such as above many commercial drop ceilings. A CL3 cable is rated for general in-wall residential use but is not approved for plenum spaces. Choose plenum when local code requires it for the space.

Does this cable support 4K@60Hz, HDR, ARC and projectors?

Yes. It supports 4K@60Hz, HDR, ARC, HDCP and CEC over HDMI 2.0. It works with 4K projectors, displays, consoles and AV receivers, and the long lengths suit ceiling-mounted projectors in commercial rooms. Note that eARC and 8K require an HDMI 2.1 cable.

Should I choose 4K or 8K, and plenum (CMP) or in-wall (CL3)?

Choose 4K when the display is 4K to save cost; choose 8K only for 8K or 4K@120Hz displays. Choose plenum (CMP) when cable runs through an air-handling or return-air space, which is common in commercial buildings; choose CL3 for standard residential in-wall runs.

How do I connect it, which way round does it go, and does it need power?

The cable is directional. Connect the Source end to the source device and the Display end to the projector or display; connecting them in reverse will not pass a picture. It draws power from the HDMI port, so no external power adapter is required.

Can an HDMI cable carry 4K over a long distance through a plenum space?

Yes. As an active optical cable, the 4K signal travels over fiber and holds across long runs where passive copper would drop it. The CMP plenum jacket is approved for return-air spaces, and at 4.8 mm it is slim enough to pull through conduit and over long ceiling runs.
