Product Features

  • USB-IF certified under Test ID 60000532: the assembly carries the official Hi-Speed CERTIFIED USB label at both ends with TID60000532, meaning an independent compliance lab verified the full 480 Mbps signalling — a certification no same-tier competitor publishes a test ID for on Mini-B cables.
  • Heavier 24 AWG power conductors: VBUS and ground run on 24 AWG copper against the 28 AWG data pair, a full two gauge steps heavier than the 28 AWG power wiring used on thinner mini-USB cables, which limits voltage drop and keeps cameras and GPS units charging properly on the 10ft and 15ft lengths.
  • UL and CSA marked cable on a 4.5 mm jacket: the jacket is marked to UL AWM Style 2725 under file E300060 at 80C and 30V with a VW-1 flame rating, plus CSA 204790 AWM I/II A/B at 80C, 30V and FT1 — dual-agency marking that matters for equipment builds and institutional purchasing.
  • Correct five-pin Mini-B wiring: pin 4 on the Type A side maps to pin 5 on the Mini-B side for ground with the ID pin left out of the signal path, and the shell is bonded end to end so the AMA braid provides a continuous shield across the whole run.
  • Versatile Applications: connects digital and DSLR cameras, GPS navigation units, dash cameras, MP3 players, older 2.5-inch external drives, card readers, game controllers and audio interfaces with Mini-B ports to any computer or USB-A charger, in offices, vehicles, photo bags and field kits.

Product Description

6ft Mini USB Cable, USB 2.0 A Male to Mini-B 5-Pin, 480 Mbps, USB-IF Certified, Black

The CableLeader U2105-XXXX is a USB 2.0 Type A male to Mini-B 5-pin male cable, the standard replacement lead for the trapezoidal Mini-B port fitted to a generation of cameras, GPS units, dash cameras, MP3 players and external drives. It is USB-IF certified under Test ID 60000532 at 480 Mbps and covers five lengths from 1ft to 15ft in black.

The Type A end is a gold flash plated plug in a white insulator, built as a crimped two-piece assembly, and seats in any USB-A port on a computer, hub, wall charger or car adapter. Because Mini-B equipment is often older, the cable's backward compatibility with USB 1.1 matters: a legacy camera or GPS unit that never negotiated Hi-Speed still enumerates and charges normally.

The Mini-B end is the five-pin trapezoid plug with chamfered lower corners, keyed so it inserts only one way. Five positions is the standard Mini-B count; a rarer four-pin Mini variant exists with a different shell profile and the two are not interchangeable, which is worth checking against the device before ordering. Pin 4 on the host side maps to pin 5 for ground.

The certification and marking on this family are unusually complete for a legacy interface. The assembly carries the Hi-Speed CERTIFIED USB label at both ends with TID60000532. The jacket is marked to UL AWM Style 2725 under file E300060 at 80C, 30V and VW-1, and separately to CSA 204790 AWM I/II A/B at 80C, 30V and FT1. All materials comply with the RoHS directive.

Construction favours power delivery over minimum diameter. Inside the 4.5 mm jacket a 28 AWG twisted pair carries data while two 24 AWG conductors carry VBUS and ground, and an AMA braid wraps the bundle. That 24 AWG power gauge is why the 15ft length remains practical for charging a dash camera from a distant outlet, where 28 AWG power wiring on a thin cable would lose most of the delivered current.

The black jacket provides a professional appearance and blends into standard office, rack, and enclosure installations.

Compatibility & Ordering Information — U2105-XXXX fits any device with the standard five-pin Mini-B port, which covers Canon, Nikon and Sony compact and DSLR cameras of the Mini-B era, Garmin and TomTom GPS units, dash cameras, MP3 players, older 2.5-inch drive enclosures, card readers, PlayStation 3 controllers and audio interfaces, connected to any USB-A host or charger. The family ships in 1ft, 3ft, 6ft, 10ft and 15ft, all black. If the device port is the rarer four-pin Mini shell, see the USB 2.0 A to Mini 4-Pin cable instead; for micro-USB ports, see the USB 2.0 A to Micro B family.

Product Comparison: Mini-B 5-Pin vs Mini 4-Pin USB Cable

Both cables end in a small trapezoid mini-USB plug and they are not interchangeable. The table shows how to tell which one a device needs:

Attribute A to Mini-B 5-Pin (this product) A to Mini 4-Pin
Contact Count 5 pins — the standard Mini-B 4 pins — a non-standard variant
Physical Fit Fits standard five-pin Mini-B sockets only Chamfered shell, will not enter a five-pin socket
Power Conductors 2C 24 AWG 2C 28 AWG
Cable Diameter 4.5 mm 3.5 mm
Agency Marking UL AWM 2725 (E300060) and CSA 204790 UL AWM 2725 (E300060) and cUL E300060
Typical Devices Cameras, GPS units, dash cams, MP3 players, older drives, PS3 controllers Specific older compact cameras that used the four-pin shell
Choose It When The socket takes a standard mini-USB plug A standard mini-USB plug will not enter the socket

Rule of thumb: try a standard five-pin mini-USB plug first, since it covers the overwhelming majority of mini-USB equipment. If the plug will not enter the socket, the device uses the four-pin shell and needs the four-pin cable. Never force a mini plug — the chamfered corners exist precisely to stop the wrong one going in.

FAQ

What is the difference between Mini-B 5-pin and Mini 4-pin USB?

Mini-B 5-pin is the standard mini-USB connector, with five contacts including the ID pin. The four-pin Mini variant is a non-standard part with a different shell profile, chamfered to prevent it entering a five-pin port. The two are not interchangeable in either direction, so match the plug to the socket rather than assuming any mini-USB cable will fit.

Is this cable compatible with my camera, GPS or dash cam?

Yes, if the device has the standard five-pin Mini-B port — the small trapezoid socket with angled lower corners. That covers most Canon, Nikon and Sony cameras of the Mini-B era, Garmin and TomTom GPS units, dash cameras, MP3 players, older drive enclosures and PlayStation 3 controllers. The connector is an industry standard, so brand does not affect fit.

What does USB-IF certification with a test ID actually mean?

It means an independent compliance lab tested the assembly against the USB 2.0 specification and issued a traceable Test ID — 60000532 in this case — allowing the Hi-Speed CERTIFIED USB logo to be printed on the cable. Most competing mini-USB cables claim Hi-Speed compliance without publishing a test ID, so the number is the part that can actually be verified.

Which way does the Mini-B plug insert?

The Mini-B plug is keyed by its trapezoid shape and only fits one way, with the wider flat edge normally facing up on a camera or GPS unit. It should seat with light pressure. No drivers are required and USB is hot-pluggable, though storage devices should be ejected in the operating system before unplugging.

Which mini USB cable length is best for a dash cam or camera?

For a camera on a desk or in a bag, 1ft or 3ft avoids slack. For a dash camera wired to a 12V socket, 10ft or 15ft is usually needed to route the cable around the windscreen trim, and the 24 AWG power conductors in this family are what make those lengths viable for continuous powering rather than data only.
