Product Features

  • Crosses format and polish in one cable: the green SC/APC end (65 dB min return loss) mates FTTH wall outlets and GPON splitters while the blue LC/UPC end (55 dB min) mates LC data ports, replacing a two-cable-plus-coupler workaround with one factory link.
  • Built for the single-fiber GPON drop: GPON delivers service on one angle-polished strand — this simplex cable carries that strand from the SC/APC outlet directly to LC-port routers, SFP transceivers, and media converters.
  • Corning G657A1 bend insensitive single mode fiber: 9/125 um OS2-grade glass holds signal through tight wall-outlet routing and remains compatible with installed G652D single mode plant.
  • Factory-tested low-loss termination: both ends are tested to 0.30 dB maximum insertion loss at 1310/1550 nm; the LC/UPC end uses a short boot 19.5 mm body with a 1.25 mm ferrule for dense faceplates.
  • Versatile Applications: connects SC/APC wall plates, splitters, and distribution terminals to LC/UPC routers, media converters, and SFP modules in FTTH homes, MDUs, and enterprise access links where the two standards meet.

Product Description

5m LC/UPC to SC/APC Simplex Single Mode Fiber Patch Cable, OS2 9/125 Corning, LSZH/OFNR, Yellow

The CableLeader FB120-92XX is an OS2 simplex hybrid patch cable built for the most common junction in FTTH: a green SC/APC connector on one end for the access plant, a blue LC/UPC connector on the other for the data equipment, on one Corning single mode fiber in a single 2.0 mm jacket. GPON delivers service to the premises on a single angle-polished strand, and this cable carries that strand directly to LC-port equipment without couplers, offered from 1 m through 10 m.

Orientation is fixed by the polish. The green SC/APC end plugs into green APC ports — fiber wall outlets, GPON splitters, and distribution terminals — where the 8-degree angled endface holds return loss at 65 dB minimum and keeps reflection out of the shared PON plant. The blue LC/UPC end plugs into blue UPC ports — SFP transceivers, routers with optical uplinks, and media converters — at the 55 dB UPC standard. Never reverse the ends: mismatched endfaces leave an air gap and can permanently damage both ferrules.

Simplex construction matches the single-fiber nature of a GPON drop: one strand, one path, no unused fiber. The SC/APC end uses the push-pull 31.8 mm SC body that seats positively in wall plates; the LC/UPC end uses a short boot 19.5 mm body with a 1.25 mm ferrule for dense equipment faceplates. Both terminations are factory-tested to 0.30 dB maximum insertion loss at 1310/1550 nm.

The jacket is LSZH/OFNR rated under UL file E510298. Low-smoke zero-halogen material limits toxic emissions in enclosed equipment rooms and residential installs, while the OFNR riser rating permits vertical runs between floors. The yellow jacket is the industry marker for single mode cable, keeping OS2 runs visually distinct from aqua and orange multimode patching, and RoHS compliance covers restricted-substance procurement requirements.

The Corning G657A1 fiber grade is bend insensitive, tolerating the tight routing radii found in wall enclosures, cable managers, and FTTH outlets without the attenuation spikes standard G652D fiber shows under the same handling. It remains fully compatible with installed G652D single mode plant, so the cable drops into existing OS2 structured cabling, splice trays, and panels.

Compatibility & Ordering Information — FB120-92XX connects green SC/APC ports (fiber wall outlets, GPON splitters, distribution terminals) to blue LC/UPC ports (SFP transceivers, routers, media converters). Match each end to its port color before patching. The family is offered from 1 m through 10 m; select the variant covering the run plus a service loop. For the two-fiber version of this hybrid pair see the FB113-92XX duplex family; for an all-SC hybrid see FB122-96XX.

Product Comparison: Hybrid Simplex vs Hybrid Duplex LC/UPC to SC/APC

Both cables bridge the same FTTH junction — green SC/APC toward the plant, blue LC/UPC toward the equipment, on Corning OS2 9/125 G657A1 fiber; the difference is the number of fibers, which must match how the link carries signal. The table summarizes the decision:

AttributeHybrid Simplex LC/UPC–SC/APC (this product)Hybrid Duplex LC/UPC–SC/APC
ConstructionOne fiber, single 2.0 mm strand, one connector per endTwo fibers, zipcord pair, connector pair per end
Transmit / ReceiveBoth directions on one strand (GPON/BiDi) or one-way signalTransmit on one strand, receive on the other
Return Loss65 dB min at SC/APC end, 55 dB min at LC/UPC end65 dB min at SC/APC ends, 55 dB min at LC/UPC ends
Matching EquipmentGPON drops from outlet to router, SFP, or converterTwo-fiber links from APC plant to LC data gear
Length Range1 m to 10 m in this family1 m to 5 m in the duplex family
Best ForSingle-fiber FTTH drops — the standard GPON caseTwo-fiber crossings of the APC/UPC border

Select the simplex version (this product) for the standard single-fiber GPON drop from a green SC/APC outlet to blue LC/UPC equipment.
Select the duplex version when equipment transmits and receives on separate fibers. On both cables, always match green to green APC ports and blue to blue UPC ports.

FAQ

What is the difference between SC/APC and LC/UPC, and why one cable with both?

SC/APC is the green push-pull connector with an 8-degree angled polish (65 dB minimum return loss) standard on FTTH outlets and splitters; LC/UPC is the blue latched connector with a flat polish (55 dB) standard on SFP gear. They cannot mate with each other's ports — this hybrid cable terminates one end in each so the outlet and the equipment share one link.

Is this cable compatible with my fiber wall outlet and router?

Yes — if the wall outlet is green SC/APC, the dominant FTTH standard, and the router, media converter, or SFP port is blue LC/UPC. Plug green to the wall, blue to the equipment. Check both port colors first: if the equipment side is also green APC, use an all-APC cable such as the LC/APC to SC/APC simplex instead.

What loss ratings does this cable carry?

Each end is factory-tested to 0.30 dB maximum insertion loss at 1310/1550 nm. Return loss differs by polish: 65 dB minimum at the green SC/APC end and 55 dB minimum at the blue LC/UPC end. The single Corning 9/125 um G657A1 strand is OS2 grade across the 1 m to 10 m family.

How do I install an LC/UPC to SC/APC hybrid cable correctly?

Match colors first: green SC/APC end into the green wall outlet or splitter port, blue LC/UPC end into the blue equipment port. Push the SC end straight in until it seats; align the LC latch with the keyway and press until it clicks. Never reverse the ends — mismatched endfaces damage ferrules. Leave a service loop at the outlet.

Which cable is best for connecting an FTTH outlet to LC equipment — simplex or duplex?

Choose this hybrid simplex for the standard GPON case: the drop is one fiber, so one strand from outlet to equipment is exactly right. Choose the FB113-92XX hybrid duplex family when the equipment transmits and receives on separate fibers, as with standard two-fiber transceiver links. Count the fibers the equipment port uses; that decides.
