Product Features

  • Crosses both connector format and polish in one cable: the green SC/APC end (65 dB min return loss) mates FTTH wall outlets and splitters while the blue LC/UPC end (55 dB min) mates LC data ports, replacing a two-cable-plus-coupler workaround with one factory link.
  • FTTH wall outlet to equipment in a single run: SC/APC is the standard fiber wall-plate and GPON splitter connector, and LC/UPC is the standard on media converters, switches, and SFP transceivers — this cable joins exactly those two ports.
  • Corning G657A1 bend insensitive single mode fiber: 9/125 um OS2-grade glass holds signal through tight wall-outlet routing and remains compatible with installed G652D single mode plant.
  • Factory-tested low-loss termination: the LC/UPC end is tested to 0.20 dB maximum insertion loss and the SC/APC end to 0.30 dB maximum at 1310/1550 nm, with a short boot 19.5 mm LC connector for dense panel clearance.
  • Versatile Applications: connects SC/APC wall plates, splitters, and GPON plant to LC/UPC media converters, switches, and SFP modules in FTTH homes, MDUs, and enterprise access links where the two standards meet.

Product Description

3m LC/UPC to SC/APC Single Mode Fiber Patch Cable, OS2 9/125 Duplex Corning, LSZH/OFNR, Yellow

The CableLeader FB113-92XX is an OS2 single mode duplex patch cable that crosses two boundaries at once: connector format and endface polish. One end is LC/UPC with blue housings and a flat polish; the other is SC/APC with green housings and an 8-degree angled polish. This is the exact combination the FTTH access network keeps producing — an SC/APC wall outlet or splitter on one side, an LC-port data device on the other — and it cannot be bridged by any same-polish cable.

The LC/UPC end is the data side. Its flat, domed endface is rated 55 dB minimum return loss, and each short boot 19.5 mm connector is factory-tested to 0.20 dB maximum insertion loss at 1310/1550 nm — a tighter figure than the 0.30 dB typical of standard terminations. It plugs into media converters, network switches, SFP transceivers, and UPC patch panels.

The SC/APC end is the plant side. The push-pull SC body with 2.5 mm ferrule and 31.8 mm boot is the dominant connector on fiber wall plates, GPON splitter ports, and ONT uplinks, and its angled endface delivers 65 dB minimum return loss to protect reflection-sensitive access signals. The SC side is factory-tested to 0.30 dB maximum insertion loss.

The jacket is LSZH/OFNR rated under UL file E510298. Low-smoke zero-halogen material limits toxic emissions in enclosed living spaces and equipment rooms, while the OFNR riser rating permits vertical runs between floors. The 2.0 mm x 4.1 mm duplex zipcord keeps each Corning 9/125 um G657A1 fiber in its own aramid-reinforced sub-unit, and RoHS compliance covers restricted-substance procurement requirements.

G657A1 bend insensitive glass tolerates the tight bends behind wall plates, inside media-converter shelves, and around cable managers without the attenuation spikes standard G652D fiber shows under the same handling. Typical deployments include linking an apartment SC/APC outlet to a desktop media converter, patching GPON splitter plant to LC switch ports, and connecting demarcation panels to customer equipment.

Compatibility & Ordering Information — orientation is fixed by port type: plug the green SC/APC end into the wall outlet, splitter, or GPON plant, and the blue LC/UPC end into the media converter, switch, or SFP transceiver. Never reverse them; mating APC to UPC damages ferrules and produces high loss. The family is offered from 1 m through 5 m; select the variant covering the outlet-to-equipment distance plus a service loop. For APC on both ends see the FB114-96XX family; a simplex version of this hybrid is available as FB120-92XX.

Product Comparison: Hybrid LC/UPC to SC/APC vs SC/APC to SC/APC Single Mode Patch Cable

Both cables use identical Corning OS2 9/125 G657A1 fiber and share a green SC/APC plant-side end; the difference is the far end, which decides which equipment the cable can reach. The table summarizes the decision:

Select the hybrid cable (this product) when the equipment side is a blue LC/UPC port; plug green into the wall outlet or splitter and blue into the device.
Select the SC/APC pair when both ports are green APC. APC and UPC ferrules must never mate directly — the mismatch damages the angled endface and causes high loss.

FAQ

What is the difference between this hybrid cable and an SC/APC to SC/APC cable?

This hybrid changes both format and polish end-to-end: SC/APC (green, angled) on the plant side and LC/UPC (blue, flat) on the equipment side. An SC/APC to SC/APC cable keeps green angled connectors on both ends and joins two APC ports only. Choose by your ports — one blue LC port means you need this hybrid, two green SC ports mean you need the same-polish cable.

Is this cable compatible with my FTTH wall outlet and media converter?

Yes — that is its designed link. Plug the green SC/APC end into the fiber wall outlet or splitter port and the blue LC/UPC end into the media converter, switch, or SFP transceiver. If your equipment port is green LC/APC rather than blue LC/UPC, use an SC/APC to LC/APC cable such as the FB111 family instead.

What insertion loss and return loss is each end rated for?

The LC/UPC end is factory-tested to 0.20 dB maximum insertion loss with 55 dB minimum return loss; the SC/APC end is tested to 0.30 dB maximum insertion loss with 65 dB minimum return loss. Both figures are measured at 1310/1550 nm, and each end meets the standard for its own polish type.

Which end plugs into which device?

Match housing color to port: the green SC/APC end goes to the wall plate, GPON splitter, or ONT uplink, and the blue LC/UPC end goes to the media converter, switch, or SFP module. Push each connector straight in until it clicks or latches. Reversing the ends mates mismatched ferrules and damages the angled endface.

Which fiber patch cable is best for connecting an SC/APC wall outlet to a switch?

Choose this LC/UPC to SC/APC hybrid when the switch or converter side is a blue UPC port — the most common FTTH customer-premises case. Choose the FB111 LC/APC to SC/APC cable when the equipment side is green APC, or the FB114 SC/APC pair for links entirely inside APC plant. The port colors decide.
