Product Features

  • Full 240W EPR at 2 m, with no wattage penalty for the longer run: the integrated e-marker declares the same 48V/5A Extended Power Range rating carried by 1 m 40 Gbps cables, so a PD 3.1 charger negotiates the complete 240W profile across the full 2 m instead of dropping to the 100W standard range.
  • 20 Gbps USB4 Gen 2x2 over two coaxial lanes: eight 31 AWG coaxial conductors carry two lanes at 10 Gbps each, four times the 5 Gbps of USB 3.0, which sustains an external SATA or mid-range NVMe enclosure and a 4K@60Hz display over the same link.
  • Two metres of reach for desk-to-dock runs: the lower per-lane signaling rate tolerates twice the passive copper distance of a 40 Gbps cable, giving a 2 m (6.6 ft) run from a floor-standing dock or a wall charger to a laptop without an extension or an active repeater.
  • Coaxial construction with 100 percent factory electrical test: every assembly is tested for opens, shorts and miswires, with contact resistance held under 3 ohms and insulation resistance above 10 megohms at DC 300V, and the 5.0 mm jacket carries the UL AWM Style 20276 marking rated 80C and 30V with VW-1 flame testing.
  • Versatile Applications: connects USB-C laptops, tablets and handhelds to docking stations, 240W-class chargers and power banks, 4K USB-C monitors, external SSD and hard drive enclosures, and USB-C hubs, in offices, home desks, conference rooms, and any layout where the charger sits further than a metre from the device.

Product Description

2m (6.6ft) USB4 Gen 2x2 USB-C to USB-C Cable, 20Gbps, 240W EPR, 4K@60Hz, E-Marked, Black

The CableLeader U4102-XXXX is a USB4 Gen 2x2 cable with a USB Type-C male plug on each end, rated for 20 Gbps of data, 4K@60Hz video, and the full 240W Extended Power Range. The point of this cable is that reach costs bandwidth, not wattage: it delivers exactly the same 48V/5A power profile as a 1 m 40 Gbps cable, across twice the distance.

Both ends are USB Type-C, reversible and electrically identical, so orientation never matters. Eight 31 AWG coaxial conductors carry the two USB4 lanes at 10 Gbps each. Because the per-lane signaling rate is half that of a Gen 3x2 cable, insertion loss over copper accumulates far more slowly, and the assembly holds its rated performance across a 2 m passive run where a 40 Gbps cable would have to be active or shorter.

Power is governed by the e-marker chip on the connector PCB. Under USB Power Delivery 3.1, any cable carrying 5A must declare that rating over the CC line before a charger will supply it, and this cable does so, unlocking the complete 48V/5A Extended Power Range. Cables without a 5A e-marker are held to the 100W standard range by the charger regardless of conductor size, which is the usual reason a high-wattage laptop charges slowly on a generic cord.

The cable stock is UL AWM Style 20276, file E515987, rated 80C at 30V with VW-1 flame testing, and the jacket carries that marking. Every finished assembly passes a 100 percent open, short and miswire test, with contact resistance held under 3 ohms and insulation resistance above 10 megohms at DC 300V.

In practice 20 Gbps is more headroom than most desks consume. It is four times the throughput of USB 3.0, enough for external SATA and mid-range NVMe enclosures, camera offloads, and a single 4K@60Hz display over DisplayPort Alt Mode running alongside charging. The bandwidth ceiling matters only when an eGPU or an 8K panel is on the link, and those belong on a 40 Gbps cable.

The black jacket provides a professional appearance and blends into standard office, rack, and enclosure installations.

Compatibility & Ordering Information — U4102-XXXX works with USB4 and USB-C hosts including current USB-C laptops, tablets and handhelds, and connects to docking stations, PD 3.1 chargers and power banks, 4K USB-C monitors, external SSD enclosures, and USB-C hubs. It is backward compatible with USB 3.2 and USB 2.0 devices at their native speeds. This family ships in 2 m (6.6 ft), black. Where the link has to carry an eGPU, an 8K display, or dual 4K displays, see the USB4 Gen 3x2 40 Gbps 1 m family instead.

Product Comparison: USB4 Gen 2x2 20Gbps vs USB4 Gen 3x2 40Gbps Cable

Both cables are USB4 with USB Type-C male plugs on each end, and both deliver the full 240W Extended Power Range. Lane speed is the only real variable, and it sets both the data ceiling and how far the cable can run passively. The table shows which one fits your link:

Attribute USB4 Gen 2x2 (this product) USB4 Gen 3x2
Data Bandwidth 20 Gbps (2 lanes x 10 Gbps) 40 Gbps (2 lanes x 20 Gbps)
Cable Length 2 m (6.6 ft) — twice the passive reach 1 m — passive copper limit at 20 Gbps per lane
Power Delivery 240W EPR (48V/5A), E-marker integrated — identical 240W EPR (48V/5A), E-marker integrated — identical
Video Support Single 4K@60Hz Single 8K@60Hz, single 4K@120Hz, or dual 4K@60Hz
Conductor Structure 8 x 31 AWG coaxial + 2 x 31 AWG coaxial + 23 AWG power 8 x 30 AWG coaxial + 2 x 34 AWG coaxial + 4C 34 AWG
Outer Diameter 5.0 mm 4.95 mm
Choose It When Desk-to-dock or charging runs where reach matters An eGPU, NVMe enclosure, or 8K display is on the link

Rule of thumb: the longer cable does not charge slower. Both carry the same 240W EPR profile, and only bandwidth is traded for distance. Take the Gen 2x2 cable on this page for docks, chargers and a single 4K monitor; move to Gen 3x2 when the link has to sustain 40 Gbps.

FAQ

What is the difference between USB4 Gen 2x2 and Gen 3x2?

Gen 2x2 runs two lanes at 10 Gbps each for 20 Gbps total; Gen 3x2 runs two lanes at 20 Gbps each for 40 Gbps total. Power is identical — both carry 240W EPR at 48V/5A. What changes with the lower lane rate is video headroom, a single 4K@60Hz display rather than 8K, and maximum passive length, 2 m instead of 1 m.

Will this cable work with devices that are not USB4, and with Thunderbolt ports?

Yes for non-USB4 USB-C devices — the cable is backward compatible and runs USB 3.2 and USB 2.0 devices at their native speeds. Thunderbolt 3 and 4 ports use the same USB-C connector and USB4 signaling, so the cable connects and functions, but it is not Thunderbolt certified; where a certified Thunderbolt cable is specified, use one.

Does a 2 m cable still deliver the full 240W?

Yes. Power capacity is set by the conductor rating and the e-marker declaration, not by cable length, and this cable declares the full 48V/5A Extended Power Range. Length affects data signal integrity, which is why bandwidth is capped at 20 Gbps here. A cable without a 5A e-marker is limited to 100W by the charger no matter how short it is.

Does either end have to go to the computer, and can I hot-plug it?

No — both ends are identical USB Type-C male plugs, electrically symmetrical, so either end connects to either device and the plug is reversible in the port. USB-C is hot-pluggable and the cable needs no drivers of its own; the host negotiates speed, power and display mode automatically once both ends are seated.

Which USB4 cable is best for a desk-to-dock or charging run?

This 2 m 20 Gbps cable, in most cases. Docks, chargers and single 4K monitors sit well inside 20 Gbps, and the extra metre removes the need for an extension. Step up to a 1 m 40 Gbps cable only when the link carries an eGPU, an NVMe enclosure at full speed, or an 8K display, since those require the higher bandwidth.
