Product Features

  • Aluminium alloy shells on both connectors: the Type-A shell measures 14 x 15.2 x 7.2 mm and the Type-C shell 16 x 12.2 x 6.4 mm, both machined from aluminium alloy rather than molded plastic, giving a rigid housing that resists the crushing and shell separation that ends the life of most molded charging cables.
  • 3.3 mm woven mesh over a TPE core: the jacket combines a TPE core with a woven mesh over-braid at just 3.3 mm outer diameter, a slimmer and more abrasion-resistant profile than a 4.5 mm molded PVC cable, which is why braided construction is the standard choice for a cable coiled into a bag every day.
  • 3A charging with the USB-IF required 56k ohm resistor: the drawing specifies 3A charging support alongside a 56k ohm pull-up on CC pin A5, so the cable carries the current while still advertising Default USB Power — the value USB-IF mandates on legacy A-to-C cables so no device over-draws from a USB-A source.
  • 24 AWG VBUS with ground on the drain in an 85% aluminium braid: power runs on a single 24 AWG conductor while the 85% coverage aluminium braid doubles as the ground return, a construction that keeps the 3.3 mm diameter while holding voltage drop low enough for 3A charging at 2m.
  • Versatile Applications: charges and syncs USB-C phones, tablets, wireless earbud cases, power banks, handheld consoles and Bluetooth speakers from any USB-A wall charger, car adapter, laptop or hub, with three colours available so shared desks, meeting rooms and family car chargers can be colour-coded.

Product Description

2m Braided USB-A to USB-C Charging Cable, 480 Mbps, 3A, Aluminium Shells, Black

The CableLeader U2119-XXXX is a braided USB 2.0 Type-A to Type-C cable rated for 3A charging and 480 Mbps data, built for daily carry rather than a fixed desk. It ships in 1m and 2m in three colours: black, silver and blue. Where a standard molded charging cable fails at the flex point behind the plug, this family combines aluminium alloy connector shells with a woven mesh jacket to move that failure point well out of everyday range.

The Type-A end sits in a machined aluminium alloy shell measuring 14 x 15.2 x 7.2 mm over a nickel plated connector body. The rigid shell is the practical difference from a molded plug: it does not deform when the cable is yanked from a wall charger, and it resists the shell separation that lets moisture and debris reach the contacts on an over-molded assembly.

The Type-C end uses a matching aluminium alloy shell at 16 x 12.2 x 6.4 mm over a tin plated connector with an integrated PCBA. That PCBA carries a 56k ohm pull-up resistor on the Configuration Channel pin. The value is set by specification: USB-IF requires 56k ohm on legacy A-to-C cables so the attached device is told to request only Default USB Power, since a cable cannot know the current capability of the upstream USB-A source.

Every assembly is 100% tested for opens, shorts and mis-wires, with contact resistance held to 2 ohms maximum, insulation resistance to 10 megohms minimum, and a 300V DC hi-pot test for 10 milliseconds. The drawing also records REACH and RoHS compliance and states 3A charging support, so the current figure is a manufacturing specification rather than a marketing estimate.

Construction inside the 3.3 mm jacket is unusual and worth understanding. VBUS runs on a single 24 AWG conductor, D+ and D- on two 30 AWG conductors, and ground returns through the drain inside an 85% coverage aluminium braid. Routing ground through the braid is what keeps the diameter at 3.3 mm while still supporting 3A, and it gives the shield a continuous low-impedance path from shell to shell.

The black jacket provides a professional appearance and blends into standard office, rack, and enclosure installations.

Compatibility & Ordering Information — U2119-XXXX works with any USB-C phone, tablet, earbud case, power bank, handheld console or Bluetooth speaker, connected to any USB-A wall charger, car adapter, laptop, desktop or hub. The family ships in 1m and 2m, each in black, silver and blue. For lengths from a 6in stub to a 4m run in a standard molded jacket, see the standard USB-A to USB-C family; for USB-C on both ends, see the USB-C to USB-C families.

Product Comparison: Braided vs Standard USB-A to USB-C Cable

Both cables are the same electrical class of legacy A-to-C link with the same USB-IF required 56k ohm resistor. The choice comes down to how and where the cable will be handled:

Attribute Braided A to C (this product) Standard A to C
Jacket TPE core with woven mesh over-braid, 3.3 mm outer diameter Molded PVC, 4.5 mm outer diameter
Connector Shells Aluminium alloy on both ends Molded PVC over-mold
Power Conductors 1C 24 AWG VBUS, ground on drain in an 85% aluminium braid 2C 26 AWG for VBUS and ground
Charging 3A charging support stated on drawing 5V / 3A rated conductors
Data Rate 480 Mbps 480 Mbps
Colour Options Black, Silver, Blue Black
Length Range 1m and 2m 6in through 4m, seven options
Choose It When The cable is carried daily, or colour coding helps You need a very short stub, a long run, or lowest cost per unit

Rule of thumb: braided for mobility and identification, standard for reach and value. Neither carries video, because DisplayPort Alternate Mode needs a Type-C host port, and neither supports USB Power Delivery from a legacy USB-A source.

FAQ

What is the difference between a braided USB-A to C cable and a standard one?

The electrical class is the same; the physical build differs. This braided cable uses aluminium alloy shells and a 3.3 mm TPE core with a woven mesh over-braid, while a standard cable uses molded PVC on a 4.5 mm jacket. Braided construction resists abrasion and shell separation, which matters when a cable is coiled into a bag daily rather than left on a desk.

Is this cable compatible with my USB-C phone and charger?

Yes. Any USB-C phone, tablet, earbud case or power bank works with any USB-A wall charger, car adapter, laptop or hub through this cable. It carries both charging and data, so it also handles file transfer, phone backup and tethering at the full USB 2.0 rate of 480 Mbps.

Does this cable really support 3A charging?

Yes. The manufacturing drawing states 3A charging support, and power runs on a 24 AWG VBUS conductor with ground returning through an 85% aluminium braid to keep voltage drop low. The Type-C plug also carries the 56k ohm resistor USB-IF requires, which advertises Default USB Power so no device over-draws from a legacy USB-A source.

Which colour should I choose, and are they all the same cable?

Black, silver and blue share identical construction, wiring and ratings; only the mesh jacket colour changes. Colour is most useful for identification — assigning one colour per person on a shared desk, per device in a meeting room, or per position in a car so the right cable is found without tracing it end to end.

Which braided USB-C cable is best for daily travel?

For a bag or a pocket, the 1m length in a braided jacket is the practical choice: short enough to avoid tangling, long enough to reach from a power bank to a phone in use. Choose 2m when charging from a wall outlet behind furniture or from a car's front socket to a rear seat. Aluminium shells matter more than length for cables that get coiled daily.
