Product Features

  • Bridges SC infrastructure to LC equipment: SC/UPC push-pull connectors on one end mate legacy patch panels, media converters, and ONT gear, while short boot LC/UPC connectors on the other end fit modern switch and SFP ports — one cable replaces a hybrid adapter chain.
  • Corning G657A1 bend insensitive single mode fiber: 9/125 um OS2-grade glass tolerates tight routing in cable managers and stays compatible with installed G652D single mode plant.
  • Low-loss UPC polish on both connector types: LC and SC ferrules are each factory-tested to 0.30 dB max insertion loss and 55 dB min return loss at 1310/1550 nm dual wavelengths.
  • LSZH/OFNR riser-rated jacket: yellow 2.0 mm duplex zipcord carries UL file E510298 marking, low-smoke zero-halogen rated for riser shafts and enclosed telecom rooms.
  • Versatile Applications: connects SC-port media converters, ONT units, and legacy fiber distribution frames to LC-port switches, SFP transceivers, and modern patch panels across enterprise, ISP, and FTTH deployments.

Product Description

20m LC to SC Single Mode Fiber Patch Cable, OS2 9/125 Duplex Corning Short Boot, LSZH/OFNR, Yellow

The CableLeader FB132-92XX is an OS2 single mode duplex patch cable with a purpose: joining two connector generations on one link. One end carries duplex SC/UPC connectors — the square-bodied, push-pull format still standard on older fiber patch panels, media converters, and carrier ONT hardware. The other end carries duplex LC/UPC connectors in a short boot format, matching the small-form-factor ports on current switches, SFP transceivers, and high-density panels. Between them run two Corning 9/125 um G657A1 fibers in a yellow zipcord jacket.

LC to SC cables earn their place during infrastructure transitions. An enterprise that installed SC-terminated structured cabling a decade ago does not re-terminate the plant to adopt LC-based switches; it patches across with a hybrid cable. The same logic applies at the network edge, where an ISP media converter or ONT exposes an SC port while the customer's router or switch uplink expects LC. This cable completes either link directly, avoiding adapter plates and the extra insertion loss they introduce.

Optical performance matches CableLeader's single-connector families. Every LC and SC ferrule is polished to UPC grade and factory-tested to a maximum insertion loss of 0.30 dB with a minimum return loss of 55 dB, measured at both 1310 nm and 1550 nm windows. The G657A1 fiber grade is bend insensitive, holding the loss budget even when the cable routes through crowded vertical managers or wraps a service loop inside a wall enclosure, and it remains fully interoperable with G652D-based cabling.

The jacket is LSZH/OFNR rated under UL file E510298. Low-smoke zero-halogen material suits enclosed equipment rooms and plenum-adjacent spaces where cable fire behavior matters, and the OFNR riser rating covers vertical floor-to-floor runs. The 2.0 mm x 4.1 mm duplex zipcord profile keeps each fiber in its own protected sub-unit while staying flexible for panel-side dressing.

Field scenarios repeat across industries: telecom technicians patch SC-terminated OLT frames to LC transport gear; enterprise teams connect legacy SC horizontal cabling to new LC core switches; integrators finish FTTH installs where the ONT is SC but the customer equipment is LC; and lab engineers bridge SC-port instruments to LC-port test sets. The short boot on the LC end preserves clearance on the dense side of the link, where ports sit closest together.

Compatibility & Ordering Information — FB132-92XX mates with any standards-compliant SC/UPC and LC/UPC ports, including SC media converters and ONT units from TP-Link, Ubiquiti, and carrier-supplied hardware, and LC ports on Cisco, Juniper, MikroTik, and Ubiquiti switches and SFP optics. Lengths run 1 m through 30 m; pick the variant covering the panel-to-equipment distance plus a service loop. For LC-to-LC links see the FB131-91XX short boot family; for SC-to-SC links see the FB134 family; APC-polish versions for FTTH RF applications are listed separately in the fiber optic cables catalog.

Product Comparison: LC to SC vs LC to LC Single Mode Patch Cable

Buyers choosing a single mode patch cable most often hesitate between the hybrid LC-SC format and the standard LC-LC format. The deciding factor is the ports on your two devices:

AttributeLC to SC (this product)LC to LC
End ConnectorsLC/UPC duplex one end, SC/UPC duplex other endLC/UPC duplex on both ends
Typical LinkLegacy SC patch panel, media converter, or ONT to a modern LC switch or SFP portSwitch-to-switch, SFP-to-panel, and other links where both ports are LC
When to ChooseTwo different connector generations on one link; avoids adapter platesUniform modern infrastructure, highest port density
FiberCorning OS2 9/125 G657A1 bend insensitiveSame fiber grade
Optical Performance0.30 dB max IL per connector, 55 dB min RLIdentical rating; connector mix does not add loss
Port IdentificationSC port: square ~9 mm opening, push-pull. LC port: compact latched pairBoth ports are compact latched LC pairs

Select LC to SC when one device is SC (older panel, media converter, ONT) and the other is LC.
Select LC to LC when both devices carry LC ports.

FAQ

What is the difference between LC and SC fiber connectors?

LC and SC are both push-in fiber connectors, but LC is about half the size. SC uses a 2.5 mm ferrule in a square push-pull housing and dominates older panels, media converters, and ONT hardware; LC uses a 1.25 mm ferrule with a latch and dominates modern switches, SFP transceivers, and high-density panels. They are not physically interchangeable, which is exactly why LC-to-SC hybrid cables exist.

Which end plugs into my media converter or ONT?

The SC end — the larger square connectors — plugs into SC-port media converters, ONT units, and legacy patch panels. The LC end — the smaller latched connectors — plugs into switch ports, SFP/SFP+ transceivers, and modern LC panels. Check your equipment's port markings first; SC receptacles are square 9 mm openings, LC receptacles are compact rectangular openings usually in duplex pairs.

Does a hybrid LC-SC cable lose more signal than a same-connector cable?

No. Each connector is rated independently — 0.30 dB maximum insertion loss per end on this cable regardless of type — so an LC-SC assembly performs the same as an LC-LC or SC-SC assembly of equal grade. A hybrid cable actually saves loss compared to the alternative: chaining an adapter or coupler between two same-connector cables adds an extra mated pair to the budget.

Can I use this cable for my fiber internet ONT installation?

Yes, if your ONT has an SC/UPC port (blue) and your downstream equipment uses LC. Match the polish type: this cable is UPC on both ends, correct for data ONT ports. If your carrier hardware uses SC/APC (green, angled polish, common in GPON/RF overlay), you need an APC version instead — mating APC to UPC damages ferrules and causes high loss.

Which fiber cable should I buy if I am not sure whether my ports are LC or SC?

Identify the ports before ordering: SC ports are square, roughly 9 mm across, and connectors push straight in; LC ports are half that width, usually paired side by side, and connectors click in with a latch. If one device has each type, this LC-to-SC cable is the correct single-cable link. If both ends match each other, choose the LC-to-LC (FB131) or SC-to-SC (FB134) family instead.
