Product Features

  • 1:1 straight-through C14 to C13 wiring: Male IEC 60320 C14 plug on one end and IEC 60320 C13 female receptacle on the other; matched L/N/E pin layout passes power through without rewiring or adapters, ready to drop into any C14 or C13 socket on a PDU, UPS, or piece of IEC-fed equipment.
  • Pure copper 16 AWG SJT conductors: Three 1.31 mm² stranded pure copper conductors (non-CCA) inside a black SJT jacket carry up to 13A continuous at 250V, supporting roughly 3,250 W of load with the lower voltage drop and steadier long-term resistance that copper delivers versus copper-clad aluminum.
  • UL Listed and CSA Approved: Cable file UL E204978 and CSA file 204790; molded plug and connector UL E210037; VW-1 flame retardant; FT2 / 105°C / 300V wire rating; full RoHS 3 compliance on every component.
  • Designed for server racks, PDUs, and UPS systems: Connects a rack PDU’s C13 outlet to a 1U/2U server’s C14 inlet, links a UPS C13 output to a network switch or KVM, or extends an existing C14-terminated computer cord that came up short across the cabinet.
  • Versatile applications across IEC-fed equipment: Suitable for any device with a C14 inlet drawing 13A or less at 250V or below — including audio/video gear, lab instruments, network appliances, blade workstations, monitors with detachable IEC inlets, and small data center cabinets.

Product Description

10ft C14 to C13 PDU Power Cord, 16 AWG SJT, 13A/250V, UL Listed, Black

The Cable Leader C14 to C13 power cord delivers a direct 1:1 connection between any IEC 60320 C14 plug and a standard IEC 60320 C13 receptacle. Built with 16 AWG SJT cable rated 13A at 250V, it carries up to 3,250 watts on a black flame-retardant jacket — enough headroom for a 1U or 2U server, a managed switch, a rack-mount UPS, or a workstation that already came up short on cord length.

This is the most common power cord found inside a data center server rack. Use it to power a server from a rack PDU’s C13 outlet, attach a network switch or KVM to a UPS output, or extend an existing C14-terminated cord that did not reach across the cabinet. The straight pass-through wiring (L→L, N→N, E→E) preserves polarity end-to-end without rewiring, adapters, or special tools.

The 16 AWG conductor sits in the middle of the C13/C14 power cord market — heavier than the 18 AWG cable most computer-grade cords use and lighter than the 14 AWG heavy-duty variants. That balance keeps the cable flexible enough to dress neatly inside a 1U cable manager while still supporting the 13A / 250V rating molded into both connector bodies. The SJT outer jacket is rated for 105°C and carries VW-1 / FT2 flame ratings.

In rack and workstation layouts where an IEC-terminated cord runs short of its target inlet, this cord acts as an extension between two C14-equipped points. Plug the C14 end into the upstream device — a PDU port, a wall-mount UPS, or another IEC source — and the C13 end into the downstream load. Because the wiring is 1:1, the extension does not change the upstream protection class or current rating.

Every cable run is verified for compliance: UL Listed under file E204978 (cable) and E210037 (plug), CSA marked under file 204790, and fully RoHS 3 compliant. The three internal conductors are pure copper — not copper-clad aluminum (CCA) — so resistance, voltage drop, and long-term heating all stay within the values printed on the connector body. Strain relief is molded directly onto the PVC plug and connector to reduce stress where the wire meets the contact.

The black jacket provides a professional appearance and suits standard data center and enterprise rack deployments.

Compatibility & Ordering Information

This cord is compatible with any equipment featuring a standard C14 male inlet and any source providing a C13 female outlet — rack PDUs, online and offline UPS systems, KVM consoles, blade chassis, managed switches, PoE injectors, blade workstation power supplies, monitors with detachable IEC inlets, and audio/video gear that uses kettle-style power. Available in multiple stocked lengths under the PW119-12XX family; choose the length that matches the cabinet rise plus your service loop allowance, and contact Cable Leader for bulk or custom-length quotes.

FAQ

Q1: What is the difference between a C14 to C13 power cord and a NEMA 5-15P to C13 cord?

A C14 to C13 cord plugs into another IEC source — typically a rack PDU, a UPS C13 outlet, or another cord set — while a NEMA 5-15P to C13 cord plugs into a standard US wall outlet. The PW119-12XX family belongs to the first category; for wall-outlet feeds, see Cable Leader’s NEMA 5-15P to C13 family (PW105-12XX / PW106-12XX).

Q2: Is this C14 to C13 cord compatible with my PDU and server?

Yes — this cord mates with any PDU C13 outlet on one end and any C14-inlet device on the other. The straight 1:1 wiring preserves L, N, and E lines end-to-end, so the upstream protection (PDU breaker or UPS branch) sees the load identically to a direct connection. Common targets include 1U/2U servers, managed switches, KVM consoles, and rack-mount monitors.

Q3: What wire gauge and amperage rating do I need to connect a C13 device to a PDU?

For a standard 1U or 2U server pulling under 13A at 250V (or under 13A at 125V), 16 AWG SJT is sufficient. The PW119-12XX family uses 16 AWG pure-copper conductors rated 13A / 250V — adequate for the C13/C14 interface ceiling. Devices drawing above 13A or above 250V need a C19 / C20 cord instead (see PW182-12XX family).

Q4: How do I extend an existing C14-terminated power cord?

Unplug the existing cord at the C14 end and replace it with the PW119 C14 plug; connect the PW119 C13 end to the device that previously had the C14 cord. No tools or rewiring are required. Verify both connectors seat fully — IEC fittings engage by friction, not by latch, so use a locking C13 variant for vibration-prone environments.

Q5: Which C14 to C13 cord length is best for a server rack?

Measure from the upstream IEC source (PDU outlet or UPS port) to the device C14 inlet, add about 6 inches for service loop, and round up to the next stocked PW119-12XX length. Shorter lengths reduce cable clutter inside 1U cable managers; longer lengths reach across cabinets or beyond rack rails. Cable Leader also quotes bulk and custom-length runs on request.
