Product Features

  • 4K@60Hz over active optical fiber: The active optical (AOC) construction carries 4K@60Hz video over hybrid OM3 fiber, holding the signal across long runs where a passive copper cable cannot maintain 4K.
  • Long-distance value alternative to 8K: Built for the same long runs as an 8K fiber cable but rated to 4K@60Hz, it covers projector and across-room setups that do not need 8K at a lower cost.
  • Directional Source-to-Display design: One connector is marked Source and connects to the source device while the Display end connects to the projector or television; the active optics must be connected in this direction to pass signal.
  • Slim, CL3 in-wall, full 2.0 features: At an OD of 4.8 mm the cable is thin and light for pulling through conduit, is CL3 in-wall rated, supports HDR, ARC, HDCP and CEC, and draws power from the HDMI port with no external adapter.
  • Versatile Applications: Connects ceiling-mounted projectors, 4K TVs, conference room displays, digital signage and AV systems over long and in-wall runs from 25 to 150 ft.

Product Description

100ft 4K Fiber Optic HDMI Cable, for Projector & Long Runs, CL3 In-Wall, Black

The High Speed 4K HDMI Active Optical Cable carries a 4K@60Hz signal over hybrid optical fiber, making it built for long runs that a passive copper cable cannot handle. It connects a source device to a distant display, the situation a ceiling projector, a wall-mounted 4K television or an across-room AV setup creates. As a 4K cable, it covers the most common long-distance video without the cost of an 8K fiber cable, and it is available from 25 to 150 ft.

One end of the cable is a 19-pin HDMI Type A male connector marked Source, which plugs into the output of a media player, console, signage player or AV receiver. The gold-flash contacts resist corrosion, and the active optics inside the connector convert the electrical signal for transmission over the fiber, drawing power directly from the HDMI port without an external adapter.

The opposite end is a 19-pin HDMI Type A male connector marked Display, which plugs into the projector or television. Because the cable is directional, the Source and Display ends are not interchangeable, and connecting them in reverse will not pass a picture. This active optical design is what allows a clean 4K signal to travel 50, 100 or 150 ft without the signal loss that limits passive copper.

Inside, an OM3 hybrid fiber and copper assembly is wrapped in a slim 4.8 mm jacket that is light enough to pull through conduit and is CL3 in-wall rated for routing inside walls. It supports HDR, ARC, HDCP and CEC, and the cable is UL recognized (E468040) and RoHS compliant, meeting common requirements for permanent and in-wall installation.

For home theater and AV, the cable reaches a ceiling-mounted projector and supports HDR for high-contrast 4K video, plus ARC so audio can return from a display to a soundbar or receiver over the same run. It also serves conference rooms, digital signage and across-room setups where a long 4K run is needed and 8K is not required.

This active optical cable is offered in 25, 35, 50, 65, 75, 100 and 150 ft lengths for long and in-wall runs. It is compatible with 4K HDMI 2.0 sources and displays, including projectors, TVs and consoles. For 8K@60Hz or 4K@120Hz, choose the Cable Leader 8K HDMI 2.1 fiber cable; for short runs from 3 to 15 ft, a copper HDMI cable is more economical.

Product Comparison: 4K Fiber Optic HDMI vs 8K Fiber Optic HDMI

Both cables are active optical (AOC) fiber built for the same long 25 to 150 ft runs, so the difference is the resolution they carry. This 4K version handles 4K@60Hz for standard projectors and displays at a lower cost, while the 8K version adds 8K@60Hz and 4K@120Hz for next-generation screens. Use the table below to choose based on your display.

FAQ

What is the difference between a 4K fiber optic HDMI cable and an 8K fiber optic HDMI cable?

A 4K fiber cable like this one carries 4K@60Hz over long distances and costs less, which suits most projector and across-room setups. An 8K fiber cable adds 8K@60Hz and 4K@120Hz for next-generation displays. If your projector or TV is 4K, the 4K fiber cable is enough.

Does this cable support 4K@60Hz, HDR, ARC and projectors?

Yes. It supports 4K@60Hz, HDR, ARC, HDCP and CEC over HDMI 2.0. It works with 4K projectors, televisions, consoles and AV receivers, and the long lengths suit ceiling-mounted projectors. Note that eARC requires an HDMI 2.1 cable.

Can an HDMI cable carry 4K over a long distance, and can it go in walls?

Yes. Because it is an active optical cable, the 4K signal travels over fiber and holds across long runs where passive copper would drop it. The cable is CL3 in-wall rated and only 4.8 mm thick, so it can be routed inside walls and through conduit.

How do I connect it, which way round does it go, and does it need power?

The cable is directional. Connect the Source end to the source device and the Display end to the projector or TV; connecting them in reverse will not pass a picture. It draws power from the HDMI port, so no external power adapter is required.

Should I choose this 4K fiber cable or a copper HDMI cable?

Choose this 4K active optical fiber cable for long runs over about 15 ft, such as ceiling projectors and across-room routing, where copper loses the signal. For short runs under 15 ft, a passive 4K copper HDMI cable is more economical.
