Product Features

  • Built-in 56k ohm Rp resistor on the Type-C plug: USB-IF requires a 56k ohm pull-up on the Configuration Channel of every legacy A-to-C cable, so the connected phone or tablet is told to draw only Default USB Power. A cable cannot know how much current the upstream USB-A charger supplies, and cables using the wrong 10k ohm value have caused documented host and charger damage.
  • Conductors rated 5V / 3A on 26 AWG power pairs: VBUS and ground run on 26 AWG copper rather than the 28 AWG data gauge, which is what allows the catalog 3A rating and limits voltage drop on the 3m and 4m runs where thin charging cables lose most of their delivered current.
  • Full USB 2.0 data path at 480 Mbps: A6 and A7 on the Type-C plug map to the D+ and D- twisted pair, so this is a charge-and-sync cable rather than a charge-only lead, transferring files and running phone-to-computer backup, tethering and ADB sessions at the full Hi-Speed rate.
  • Seven lengths from 6in to 4m: the family spans a 6in stub for power banks and dash mounts through to a 4m run for wall-outlet charging across a room, all inside the 5 metre passive limit that the USB 2.0 specification allows.
  • Versatile Applications: charges and syncs USB-C phones and tablets, wireless earbuds and headsets, portable power banks, action cameras, handheld consoles and Bluetooth speakers from any USB-A wall charger, car adapter, laptop, hub or power bank, in cars, offices, workshops and travel kits.

Product Description

1.5m USB-A to USB-C Charge and Sync Cable, 480 Mbps, 5V/3A, 56k Ohm Rp, Black

The CableLeader U2114-XXXX is a USB 2.0 Type-A male to Type-C male cable for charging and data at 480 Mbps, with conductors rated at 5V and 3A. The family covers seven lengths from a 6in stub to a 4m run, all in black. It is the cable that bridges the largest gap in most homes and offices: a USB-C device on one side, and the rectangular USB-A ports still fitted to nearly every charger, car adapter, hub and desktop computer on the other.

The Type-A end is a gold flash plated plug in a white insulator, built as a short three-piece assembly. It seats in any USB-A port. Because the source is a legacy USB-A port rather than a Type-C port, the link operates under USB-A power rules; this is not a USB Power Delivery cable and it will not fast-charge a laptop that expects a Type-C source at higher voltage.

The Type-C end is reversible, gold flash plated, and carries an integrated PCB with a 56k ohm pull-up resistor on the Configuration Channel. That resistor is a specification requirement, not a design flourish. It advertises Default USB Power to the attached device, because a cable has no way of knowing how much current the upstream USB-A source can deliver, and advertising more than the source can give is what damages chargers and host ports.

All materials comply with the RoHS directive. Inside the 4.5 mm jacket a 28 AWG twisted pair carries D+ and D- while two 26 AWG conductors carry VBUS and ground, the heavier gauge chosen so the longer runs still deliver useful current. The pin map connects all four VBUS positions and all four ground positions on the Type-C plug, and bonds shell to shell for shielding continuity.

Two limits are worth stating plainly, because they are the most common causes of a returned A-to-C cable. This cable carries no video: DisplayPort Alternate Mode requires a Type-C port at the host end, so nothing plugged into a USB-A port can drive a display. It is also not recommended for charging USB-C laptops or monitors, which expect Power Delivery negotiation at voltages a USB-A source cannot provide.

The black jacket provides a professional appearance and blends into standard office, rack, and enclosure installations.

Compatibility & Ordering Information — U2114-XXXX works with any USB-C phone, tablet, earbud case, power bank, action camera, handheld console or Bluetooth speaker, connected to any USB-A wall charger, car adapter, laptop, desktop, hub or power bank. The family ships in 6in, 0.5m, 1m, 1.5m, 2m, 3m and 4m, all black. For a braided jacket with aluminum alloy shells in three colours, see the braided A-to-C family; for 10 Gbps data on a USB-A host, see the USB 3.2 Gen 2x1 C-to-A family.

Product Comparison: Standard vs Braided USB-A to USB-C Cable

Both cables carry USB 2.0 data at 480 Mbps and both use the USB-IF required 56k ohm resistor, so the choice is about construction and how the cable will be handled day to day:

Attribute Standard A to C (this product) Braided A to C
Jacket Molded PVC, 4.5 mm outer diameter TPE core with woven mesh over-jacket, 3.3 mm outer diameter
Connector Shells Molded PVC over-mold Aluminium alloy shells on both ends
Power Conductors 2C 26 AWG Single 24 AWG VBUS with ground on the drain in an 85% aluminium braid
Current 5V / 3A rated conductors 3A charging support stated on drawing
Data Rate 480 Mbps 480 Mbps
Colour Options Black Black, Silver, Blue
Length Range 6in through 4m, seven options 1m and 2m
Choose It When You need a long run, a very short stub, or the lowest cost per unit The cable is coiled and carried daily, or colour coding matters

Rule of thumb: both are the same electrical class of legacy A-to-C cable and both advertise Default USB Power correctly. Pick the standard version for length range and value, and the braided version for abrasion resistance, a slimmer profile and colour identification on a shared desk.

FAQ

What is the difference between this cable and a braided USB-A to USB-C cable?

The electrical design is the same class of legacy A-to-C link; the jacket and shells differ. This cable uses a molded PVC body on a 4.5 mm jacket with 26 AWG power conductors. A braided version adds a woven outer jacket and aluminium alloy connector shells for abrasion resistance and a slimmer profile, and is usually chosen where the cable is coiled and carried daily.

Will this cable work with my USB-C phone and my existing charger?

Yes. Any USB-C phone, tablet, earbud case or power bank pairs with any USB-A wall charger, car adapter, laptop port or hub through this cable. Charging speed depends on what the charger and the device negotiate under USB-A power rules; the cable advertises Default USB Power as the specification requires for A-to-C assemblies.

Why does an A-to-C cable need a 56k ohm resistor?

Because the Type-C device has to be told how much current it may draw, and only the resistor value carries that message. USB-IF requires 56k ohm on legacy A-to-C cables, which signals Default USB Power. Cables built with a 10k ohm resistor falsely advertise 3A, and devices trusting that figure have overloaded USB-A chargers and host ports.

Can I use this cable to connect my phone to a monitor?

No. Video over USB-C uses DisplayPort Alternate Mode, which requires a Type-C port at the source end. A USB-A port cannot enter that mode, so no A-to-C cable of any construction carries a display signal. For phone-to-display connections, use a USB-C to HDMI or USB-C to DisplayPort cable from a Type-C port.

Which length should I choose for charging in the car or at a desk?

For a car charger or a power bank in a bag, 6in to 1m keeps the cable tidy and avoids slack around a gear lever. For desk charging and syncing, 1m to 2m is the common choice. Pick 3m or 4m when the wall outlet is across the room; all seven lengths sit inside the 5 metre passive limit for USB 2.0.
